French shipping company CMA CGM Group received a new double-propelled mega-container ship manufactured by the Chinese shipyard Jiangnan in Shanghai.
The container ship, called CMA CGM Trocadero, is 399.9 meters long and 61.3 meters wide. The ship has a maximum cargo capacity of 23,000 TEU and can reach a speed of 22 knots carrying around 220,000 tons of goods.
According to Zhang Xuanhui, deputy chief designer of the project, the ship works mainly with liquefied natural gas, which can reduce carbon emissions by 20%, nitrogen oxides by 85%, and sulfur emissions by 99%, in comparison to container ships that run on fuel oil.
