Brazil\u2019s Minister of Agriculture, Carlos F\u00e1varo, announced on Tuesday (Nov 4) that the European Union will conduct an audit of Brazil\u2019s sanitary system in the first half of 2026, paving the way for a potential reopening of the European market to Brazilian fish products. Exports have been suspended since 2017.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe received confirmation that the EU will audit Brazil\u2019s fish processing plants. With this, in the first months of 2026, we will have the long-awaited opportunity to reopen the European market for Brazilian fish,\u201d F\u00e1varo told journalists after the second day of the Conference of Agriculture Ministers of the Americas in Bras\u00edlia.<\/p>\n
The ministry\u2019s technical team expects the EU visit to take place between May and June. Although the minister referred to inspections of processing plants, the mission will focus primarily on Brazil\u2019s sanitary control system.<\/p>\n
In addition, the EU informed Brazil that it will accept the pre-listing<\/em> system for egg exports \u2014 meaning all Brazilian egg producers meeting sanitary standards will be eligible to export to Europe. Eleven days earlier, the EU had already approved the pre-listing<\/em> model for Brazilian poultry meat exports.<\/p>\n F\u00e1varo also announced that Suriname has opened its market to Brazilian pork. \u201cNext week we will formalize the protocol and make the market opening official,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Source: Globo Rural<\/a><\/p>\n
