Argentina’s economy expanded 4.40% in 2025 compared with the prior year, \u200bthe country’s INDEC statistics agency said on Friday, a \u200ctouch below analysts’ 4.45% estimate.<\/p>\n
Argentina’s gross domestic product (GDP) expanded 2.1% in the October to December period compared to the \u200bsame period of 2024, also just slightly \u200bunder analysts’ 2.2% estimate and below the 2.6% \u2060logged a year earlier.<\/p>\n
GDP for Latin America’s \u200bthird-largest economy also grew 0.6% compared to the prior quarter \u200bin seasonally-adjusted terms, it said.<\/p>\n
The data marks the second consecutive quarter of quarter-on-quarter growth and fifth of year-on-year expansion.<\/p>\n
Annual \u200bGDP contracted 1.3% overall in 2024, according to \u200bINDEC data.<\/p>\n
Through 2025, agriculture and farming, mining and quarrying and \u200cfinancial \u2060services led growth, INDEC noted, while public administration, social and healthcare services, domestic sectors and fishing saw output decline.<\/p>\n
Industry slowed in 2024 as the \u200bharsh austerity \u200bmeasures introduced \u2060by libertarian President Javier Milei to help combat inflation hit businesses, but \u200boutput rebounded towards the end of \u200bthat year \u2060and tracked positively throughout 2025.<\/p>\n
Economists expect Argentina’s GDP to again rise in 2026. A latest survey \u2060by \u200bArgentina’s central bank found that \u200banalysts on average forecast 3.4% growth for this year.<\/p>\n
